Property Taxes
Canada as a country is one of the wealthiest in natural resources in the world with one of the smallest populations. We have lumber, oil, wheat, fresh water, hydro, minerals, fish and much more. The federal and provincial governments should be funding much more at the municipal level and giving some of this wealth back to the people.
Approximately one third of our property taxes go to the province for services such as social housing, health care and social services. In a country as rich as Canada, the province should be covering more of these services without the use of municipal taxes.
I will be fighting to get this wealth to the people in order to bring down our property taxes and to raise our quality of life.
